Norway wasn't allowed to travel to Latvia due to the Covid -19. So we started on a plan ourself. We had an idea to build our own light table. and we made it. We bought all the things we thought we needed to build the tables. Light, ikea shelf, glue and a transparent plate. We made a guide on how to use it and what you can do with it. And to be honest, only your imagination sets the limits.
We have used it with the oldest children ( 3-6 years) and we have used it with the smallest children (0-3 years). The smallest children tries to but everything on the table to check if the color shows. They like the light that comes from the table and get an aesthetic experience. The oldest children have tried with flour, figures, bottles, cars and even bugs! So much fun and so much we can learn from it. Team Norway
The Spanish team fell in love with light tables and, although we bought an already made one for our school, we decided we would create our own light table, and WE DID IT!!
If you are interested in doing yours here you have a video with the steps to follow
We usually organise workshops to train teachers in Spain, however this year, due to the safety measures, we made a video explaining our experience in Riga where we show all the things that we learned. We also include an example of how we are using our light tables at school
