Our Project is called FULL STEAM AHEAD. The motivation for this project was when all six
coordinators met while attending a Study Visit in Bergen, Norway in the autumn of 2018. The study
visit was about the promotion of digital literacy in early years education. The six teachers from
Ireland, Norway, Spain, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia decided that they would work together on a
KA229 project on this topic. STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is
our emphasis and digital literacy is our approach.
Our main objective is to train to use more digital tools in our teaching and create more digitally
inspired learning experiences for our pupils through which they will engage in all five elements of
STEAM. We are looking to enhance the best traditional teaching with digital experiences and
enhancements. We will train at each school we visit in a new form of digital media. We will then return
to our own teaching and traint he rest of our staff in the new media tools. We will then roll this our
throughout our schools for our pupils to engage with. We will be building competence and confidence
amongst our staff and pupils with a variety of new digital media to incorporate into our daily lives in
our schools.
***We have extended the length of our project to the December 2021. Due to the lockdown of schools to fight the spread of Covid-19, we have had to adjust the schedule of activities and trips.***
